LAKE GEORGE SKATE PLAZA
There has been much done to move forward the building of a skateboarding facility in the Village of Lake George. Interested students and adults have formed a committee, money is in the process of being raised, both the Village Trustees and the Town Board are in support of the facility. There is much to be done yet, primarily raising the necessary funds for construction. A proposed sketch is shown on the right. (Double click on the image to enlarge it.)
The preferred location for the "Skate Plaza" would be in the northwest corner of the Gaslight Village property, however many approvals and actions will be necessary to make that a reality. Preliminary support has been expressed by the environmental groups involved in the Gaslight Village property.
Currently there are several efforts for raising of funds for the plaza.
1. On May 23rd at SPAC there is a 5K running race called "Rock 'n Run. Money can be donated through this to support the plaza. A form in on this page and can be downloaded, filled out, and sent to the Village Office. Contributions made to the skate plaza are tax deductible. The form can be downloaded by going to the "Documents" section below.
2. During the Americade the committee, made up of participating students and adults, will be selling raffle tickets for a prize which will give the winner a free trip to Americade, 2011. This will include lodging in a house on the lake, registration, gas, meals, entertainment, and much more.
3. During the weekend of the Balloon Festival there will be a craft show, an annual event, and this year's proceeds will benefit the skate plaza fund.
